Export Processing Zones (EPZs) are known as Special Domestic and Foreign Investment Zones in Bangladesh. With the establishment of the Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) in 1983, the journey to a separate region began for 100% export-oriented investment in the country. At present, there are some special economic zones (EPZs) in Bangladesh where goods are landing, transported, manufactured, or reassembled and re-exported without any interference from the industrial authorities.

Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ):

CEPZ EPZ is located in South Halishahar, Chittagong District, Bangladesh. This export processing zone is the first and foremost among the eight regions of Bangladesh, this EPZ was established in 1983.

Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ)

Dhaka Export Processing Zone is also known as Dhaka EPZ, DEPZ, or Savar EPZ for short. It is located at Ashulia Police Station, Savar, near the capital Dhaka. DEPZ export processing zone was established in 1993 and another expanded zone was added in 1997. DEPZ EPZ is the second-largest export processing area in Bangladesh.

Mongla Export Processing Zone:

Mongla Export Processing Zone is located in the Mongla seaport area of Bagerhat, 210 km from Dhaka. It is located at a distance of 105 km and 407 km from Jessore Airport and Chittagong Seaport respectively. This export processing zone was established in 1998.

Comilla Export Processing Zone:

Comilla Export Processing Zone is located in the area of the old airport in the eastern city of Comilla. This export processing zone was established in 2000. This EPZ is the 4th largest export processing area in Bangladesh.

Ishwardi Export Processing Zone:

Ishwardi Export Processing Zone is the 5th largest export processing area in Bangladesh. This EPZ was established in 2001. Ishwardi EPZ is located in the area of Pakshi, Pabna. 220 km from Dhaka.

Uttara Export Processing Zone:

Uttara Export Processing Zone EPZ is located in the Sangalshi area near Nilphamari, a northern city of Bangladesh. This EPZ was established in 2001.

Adamjee Export Processing Zone:

Adamjee Export Processing Zone EPZ is located in the Siddhirganj area near Narayanganj city near Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. This export processing zone was established in 2006.

Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone:

Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone EPZ is located in Chittagong, Bangladesh. This export processing zone was established in September 2006 covering an area of 222.42 acres in the northern Patenga and Halishahar areas of the city.
