Used to এর ব্যবহার

“Used to” শব্দগুচ্ছটি অতীতের অভ্যাস, অতীতের পুনরাবৃত্তিমূলক কাজ বা অতীতের অবস্থা সম্পর্কে কথা বলতে ব্যবহৃত হয় যা বর্তমানে আর সত্য নয় বা করি না।

Used to এর ব্যবহার এবং নিয়মঃ

1. অতীতের অভ্যাস প্রকাশ করতেঃ

অতীতে নিয়মিত বা অভ্যাসগত ছিল কিন্তু এখন পরিবর্তিত হয়েছে এমন কাজ বা আচরণ সম্পর্কে কথা বলতে “Used to ” ব্যবহার করা হয়।

যেমন: 

1. He used to play Football, but he doesn’t anymore. -আগে ফুটবল খেলতেন, কিন্তু এখন আর খেলেন না।
2. I used to go swimming every weekend when I was younger. – আমি যখন ছোট ছিলাম প্রতি সপ্তাহান্তে সাঁতার কাটতে যেতাম।
3. They used to live in the countryside before moving to the city. – শহরে যাওয়ার আগে তারা গ্রামাঞ্চলে বসবাস করত।

2. অতীতের অবস্থা সম্পর্কে কথা বলতে:

“Used to” অতীতের অবস্থা বর্ণনা করতে ব্যবহৃত হয় যা অতীতে সত্য ছিল কিন্তু পরে পরিবর্তিত হয়েছে।

যেমন: 

1. He used to be a smoker, but he quit. -তিনি ধূমপান করতেন, কিন্তু তিনি ছেড়ে দিয়েছেন।
2. We used to live in a small apartment, but now we have a house. -নির্মাণ কাজ শুরু হওয়ার আগে শহরটি অনেক শান্ত ছিল।
3. The town used to be much quieter before the construction started. -আমরা একটি ছোট অ্যাপার্টমেন্টে থাকতাম, কিন্তু এখন আমাদের একটি বাড়ি আছে।

3. নেতিবাচক বুঝাতে:

অতীতের অভ্যাস বা অবস্থার অনুপস্থিতি প্রকাশ করতে, “didn’t use to” ব্যবহার হয়।

যেমন: 

1. I didn’t use to eat spicy food, but now I enjoy it. -আমি মশলাদার খাবার খেতে অভ্যস্ত না, কিন্তু এখন আমি এটি উপভোগ করি।
2. She didn’t use to exercise regularly, but now she goes to the gym every day. -তিনি নিয়মিত ব্যায়াম করতেন না, কিন্তু এখন তিনি প্রতিদিন জিমে যান।
3. They didn’t use to travel much, but recently they’ve been exploring new places. -তারা খুব বেশি ভ্রমণ  করেনি, কিন্তু সম্প্রতি তারা নতুন জায়গাগুলি অন্বেষণ করছে।

4. প্রশ্ন করতে Used to এর ব্যবহার:

অতীতের অভ্যাস বা অবস্থা সম্পর্কে প্রশ্ন জিজ্ঞাসা করতে “use to” ব্যবহার করা যেতে পারে।

যেমন: 

1. Didn’t they use to have a cat as a pet?
2. Didn’t you use to play soccer when you were in high school?
3. Didn’t he use to live in a different country before moving here?

Used to ব্যবহার করে বাক্য গঠন: 

1. He used to smoke, but he quit a year ago.
2. I used to dislike spicy food, but now I enjoy it.
3. He used to eat meat, but now he’s a vegetarian.
4. I used to live in the countryside when I was a child.
5. We used to have a cat, but it passed away last year.
6. He used to have a fear of heights, but he overcame it.
7. When I was a child, I used to collect stamps as a hobby.
8. We used to go camping every summer with our friends.
9. We used to visit our grandparents every summer vacation.
10. They used to live in a tiny apartment before buying a house.
11. Jane used to work as a teacher before she became a nurse.
12. They used to take family vacations to the beach every year.
13. When I was a student, I used to walk to school every day.
14. He used to play soccer professionally, but now he’s retired.
15. He used to work night shifts, but now he has a regular daytime job.
16. They used to have a garden, but they don’t have one anymore.
17. My grandparents used to tell me bedtime stories when I was young.
18. My parents used to live in a different country before they moved here.
19. I used to be afraid of public speaking, but I gained confidence over time.
20. My sister used to have braces on her teeth, but they were removed last year.
